About WETC


WETC's Mission

WETC is an industry-driven, innovative training facility that will cater to the growing needs of industry in the region. The Center offers a wide array of short-term intensive training by industry experts, as well as certificate and eventual degree programs.

WETC's Significance

The regional energy industry requires a workforce development model to serve as a catalyst for cohesive state-of the-art training that is in partnership with higher education to address current and future needs.

WETC's Purpose

The purpose of WETC is to respond to regional energy industry workforce needs with innovative, and focused state-of-the-art strategic training that is linked to higher education.

WETC's Vision

WETC will be recognized and sustained by the energy industry and higher education as a primary state-of-the-art training facility that is innovative and responsive to current and future industry workforce training needs.

The Western Energy Training Center is a resource for existing and prospective employees of the energy industry. With our center in Eastern Utah, we will be helping to develop the skills and technical expertise needed for the 21st century and the growing demand for energy industry workers.

The launch of the Western Energy Training Center represents a culmination of efforts and the collaboration of public institutions at the federal, state, and local levels, as well as the critical support of the energy industry in Eastern Utah.

WETC was funded in part by a grant awarded under the President's High Growth Job Training Initiative, as implemented by the U.S. Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration.

The Board of Directors that is driving the current efforts to develop WETC consists of key figures from local energy sectors, together with a representative from each of the following entities: College Of Eastern Utah, Southeast Applied Technology College, Workforce Services, and Vocational Rehabilitation Services.
